Character Bio: Scissors

Alter Ego - Alicia & Kimberly Whiteley
Height - 5'6"
Weight - 120 lbs.
Age - 26 & 21
Hair - Brown & Blonde
Eyes - Brown & Blue
Origin - Alicia & Kimberly are sister assassins who were hired by the Staple Remover to take out the Stapler. While both sisters are formidable on their own, they are best known for their deadly combination attacks where they come at their target from opposing sides.

Notes - I don't have much of a story for these characters. Literally up until I was writing that Origin up there, I had nothing thought out. I only have a couple pictures of Scissors's previous look as a generic silly looking guy wielding two massive blades which could be combined to form a giant pair of scissors. In the process of writing this post, the character has gone from a generic guy to a generic chick assassin to sister assassins. I like the idea of two sisters double teaming enemies. I feel like it fits the scissors motif without blatantly shoving it in your face like a lot of my other characters. Now I just have to figure out their design and whip up a few concepts.

OHMYGOD... I didn't even realize the sexual joke of two women going by the name of Scissors until I was talking to the potential artist for my comic. Now I'm not sure if that should be a happy coincidence or if I should change it.

Character Bio: The Binder Clipper

Alter Ego - James Baltzley
Height - 5'10"
Weight - 190 lbs.
Age - 32
Hair - Black
Eyes -Green
Origin -
Gear - Two giant binder clip gloves

Notes - The Binder Clipper's storyline was originally meant for the Hole Puncher, but after realizing that many characters were based around office supplies that have the same general goal (keeping things together), and that that theme works really well for a group of heroes, it seems that the bad guy turned good story fits the Binder Clipper a bit better. Outside of that main idea, I don't have much thought out on this character in the looks or story department. Any pictures I've had of him seem to go a little crazy with the binder clip theme, so I think he definitely needs some refining.

Character Bio: The Hole Puncher

Alter Ego - Andrew Theel
Height - 6'6"
Weight - 200 lbs.
Age - 30
Hair - Brown
Eyes - Brown
Origin - Andrew was born with an immense amount of strength, far greater than any human should have. He tied to use boxing as an outlet for the strength but after punching a hole in his opponent, he started down a dark path. The Staple Remover eventually sought him out to use as his henchman.
Gear - I'm unsure of what gear this character should have... if any. I'll most likely go back to having him not use any weapons, and just punch with bare fists.
One version of his design.
I don't think I like the hole punching... things.
I kind of like the idea of him just using his fists.
Notes - I think the creation of this character, like many others, began with the name. I realized that "hole puncher" is pretty self-descriptive, so any old buff guy should do. I flip-flop a bit on what his design should be. He started off as just a generic Super Saiyan / Ryu (Street Fighter) looking character, but I felt like that had little to nothing to do with his office supply. The design above kind of incorporates that gi while having a hole theme. Since karate has more to it than just punching, I've more recently decided to change his look and origin to a boxer instead. I do want to keep that massive pompadour with a hole in it though... that's awesome.

First Four Comics

Comic #001 - All the buildings are pretty blocky and terrible looking. My friend suggested I call the city "Filing Cabinet City" and I just may incorporate that into the universe.
Comic #002 - Watch as the window magically changes sizes from panel one to panel two! That's what we in the biz call continuity. I tried something different with the panels here and it didn't work as well as I expected.
Comic #003 - Considering how much trouble that fourth panel gave me, I'm pretty happy with how it turned out. I've taken an artsy-fartsy art class since then so now I understand why it wasn't working out how I wanted it to back then.
Comic #004 - All in all these comics aren't terrible. Perhaps I may continue them one day. No promises.

Character Bio: The Calculator

Alter Ego - Ernest Pascal
Height - 6'6"
Weight - 170 lbs.
Age - 30
Hair - Brown
Eyes - Brown
Origin - Ernest lost his arms in a freak accident in a Staple's Staples factory. Mac Staple, feeling guilty, took him in with the intention of helping him in any way possible. Ernest eventually made his way into the Staple Cave and utilized his genius intellect to build himself some new mechanical arms out of the technology there. Mac then hired him as his handler and gadget maker.
Gear - Robotic arms, one of the world's best computers, and whatever he decides to build.

Notes - I don't really have much story (most of what's up there was off the top of my head) and I have yet to really come up with a good design for the Calculator. I've had some really gimmicky designs with a stupid vest that had a generic calculator design, but it was a little on the nose and that was when he was still just a generic villain. I imagine his design would be pretty laid back with a lanky frame and loose fitting clothes. The robotic arms would probably be very basic as well. I kind of have an idea in my head... I'll see if I can hold on to it and whip up a picture.

Character Bio: Tape & Glue

Alter Egos - Hiro & Shiro Nobunaka
Height - 6'0" & 5'10"
Weight - 170 lbs. & 160 lbs.
Age - 26 & 25
Hair - Black & Blonde
Eyes - Green & Blue
Origin - A rift opens up and Hiro & Shiro find themselves in a strange new world. After witnessing a robbery, and the Stapler showing up to stop it, they decide to make the best of a strange situation and become superheroes as they try to find a way back to their own world.
Gear (Tape) - Tape ribbons that can stick to anything. Used much like Spider-Man to swing around and wrap up enemies.
Gear (Glue) - Two glue guns attached to the arms that can shoot globs of glue to encase enemies.

Notes - This is basically my excuse to have a crossover and stick my oldest original characters into this universe. Hiro was conceived in 8th grade when I wanted to draw a new character. He had some elements of Cloud Strife from Final Fantasy VII in that he had spiky hair, baggy pants, and a sleeveless shirt. The major differences were the color scheme with Hiro wearing a lot of dark colors and having black hair, and his right arm being robotic. His robotic arm could also make a laser sword for added coolness.

Shiro started when my friend wanted to draw something and would come over periodically to look at what I was drawing, and try to emulate it. Because the robotic arm was a last minute change, he missed that and gave his guy a beam scythe instead. Over time their designs evolved and the only real similarities to their old design is the two main hair spikes and their weapons. Tape & Glue take their most recent designs, incorporates some tape and glue into them, *clap*, and you're done. Because they're just my cheap attempt at a crossover, their origin isn't thought out at all.

Character Bio: The Staple Remover

Alter Ego - Clark Pankonin
Height - 6'2"
Weight - 180 lbs
Age - 30
Hair - Gray
Eyes - Blue
Origin - He was Mac Staple's dad's apprentice of sorts and was all set to take over the company after he died. But the business stayed in the family, and Clark snapped. He vowed to destroy Mac and steal the company from him whatever the cost.
Gear - Staple remover blade, & staple remover claws.
He has a very narrow face with long hair. Also floppy ears apparently.
Notes - I was trying to think up an arch-nemesis for the Stapler when it hit me that I had inadvertently picked quite possibly the best office supply for the main character because there is another office supply made solely to undo what the Stapler does! Then it was just a matter of adapting the staple remover into weapons. Since the main type of staple remover people use is that claw one, I decided to give him giant claws on each hands. Eventually I made them removable and also gave him a sword with the tip bent to resemble the long stick like staple removers.

Most recent version of the Staple Remover.
Oh and there may or may not have been some barely fleshed out idea (because everything else is sooo fleshed out) where the Staple Remover would die. "He" would then come back later only to find out that it's his daughter. I figure the story needs some more chicks, so it could work. The cloak could hide her boobs without much effort I guess.

The left is more detailed, but I feel like the design is too basic. The right is still too basic, and I don't like the color scheme all that much and I'm pretty sure I always wanted him to have gray hair.. so I'm not sure why I made it brown. I just can't win!

Character Bio: The Copier

Alter Ego - Seth Carlson
Height - 5'6"
Weight - 225 lbs
Age - 34
Hair - Blonde
Eyes - Blue
Origin - He was fired from Stàple's Staples main offices for stealing loads of stuff. Afterwards he vowed revenge on Mac Stàple... but with his limited funds and excess amounts of copier stuff, his choices are pretty limited.
Gear - A copier that has been modified to act as a sort of armor for his chest & upper arms. It has the ability to shoot a beam out of the top that records the information of whatever it hits. The copier then prints out a piece of paper with that item on it, and unexplained comic-book magic crap brings it to life.

Notes - The Copier is probably the biggest shot at one of my friends, taking several aspects of said friend and exaggerating them for the sake of humor. I think it all started when I was thinking about my friend's tendency to copy stuff, and realized it was a perfect fit for him to become The Copier. Then, because nothing can be the least bit serious with me, I looked at my dad's copy machine and drew it on a piece of paper. Then I cut some holes for his head, arms, and waist to come out, added some basic clothes to make him look pitiful, and I was done. His design hasn't changed much outside of his hair style and facial features which I've adapted to look more like the friend of mine.

The Copier is one of many characters I have with upgraded forms. His is the "Color Copier" and the joke reason as to why he would still look so poor after he's upgraded is that he spent all his money on the upgrades and couldn't afford a real costume. The Color Copier would basically have a smaller color copier duct taped to his chest, and the power cord would wrap around his arm and be usable as an electric whip.

Character Bio: The Paperclipper

Alter Ego - Stephanie Fay
Height - 5'5"
Weight - 120 lbs
Age - 25
Hair - Light brown / blue
Eyes - Hazel
Origin - Something about a strong sense of justice... maybe some gymnastics background. I haven't put much thought into her origin in case you couldn't tell.
Gear - One large and one small bladed paperclip that can be bent into various shapes like a sword, grappling hook, etc.
An early sketch of her face. Note the awesome buns on her head.

Notes - I imagine the thought process for the Paperclipper went something like this: "All these male superheroes are starting to turn this into a supersausagefest. I need a chick. Now what's an office supply I haven't done yet? Oh! Paperclips." And the rest is history. I kind of have a set design for her where she looks a little like a cheerleader with a shorter skirt, a top, and some boots/gloves. I can't seem to figure out a good thing to do with her face though. I like having her hair in paperclip-spiral-like buns, but the rest is changed with each drawing.

Character Bio: El Markador

Alter Ego - Charles Newman
Height - 5'4"
Weight - ~140lbs.
Age - 23
Hair - Black
Eyes - Blue
Origin - A homosexual man who was infuriated by the costume design of modern superheroes & supervillains. He's not good or bad, but chooses who to fight based solely on their costumes. Unfortunately the Stapler is at the top of his list.
Gear - A Mega Man-like gun arm that can shoot 6 different beams colored black, blue, green, yellow, red, & purple

Notes - A flamboyant Mexican villain with a marker theme.

El Markador was made at the point when I was on a roll and was just thinking of office supplies and quickly coming up with a design for them. Somewhere along the way, I discovered the pun-name of "(Homosexu)El Markador" and I couldn't pass it up. I made the character gay and Mexican, and it just so happened that one of my closest friends was a questionably-straight Mexican, so I took that as a sign. His costume has gotten smaller and smaller, and these days mostly consists of a ridiculous helmet and shoulder pads resembling the caps of Vis-a-vis markers, a speedo, and high-heel knee-high boots. Sometimes I throw in a rainbow colored short cape just to really drill in the fact that this dude enjoys penis.

Character Bio: DA PEИИ

Alter Ego - David Loud
Height - 6'8"
Weight - ~300lbs.
Age - 28
Hair - Black
Eyes - Brown
Origin - He became the apprentice for the superhero The Pen, but caused more harm than good. After severely wounding The Pen in a battle, he quits and David takes his costume. Since he's no good at being a hero, he turns to crime where he is immediately successful.
Gear - Massive pen joust, pen claws on his left hand, and "ball-point" pen feet to skate around like you could only do in a fantasy world
A mock-cover for a comic book.
That's an idea for the superhero The Pen.
Notes - A massive, stupid villain that may or may not be semi-based off of my older brother

DA PEИИ was conceived at some point in high school like most of the characters in this universe. I honestly don't remember if it was much more than "I want to make a character that looks kind of like my brother!" and then I made him stupid because... he's my brother. It's what we do. DA PEИИ does have an upgraded form called JEL PEИИ where he is covered in a symbiote-like substance that allows him to freely change shape into whatever he wants. Because, you know, gel pens were relatively popular at the time... does anyone even use them anymore, or are they even special these days? I guess it doesn't matter.

Character Bio: The Penciler & The Mechanical Penciler

Alter Ego - Robert Bernacotti
Height - 5'8"
Weight - ~140lbs.
Age - 23
Hair - Brown/Pink
Eyes - Brown
Origin - A comic-book artist who got swept up by the superhero boom and wanted to join in on the fun. Started as a hero trying to help the Stapler, but his methods were too extreme, and the Stapler classified him as a villain. He has hated the Stapler ever since.
Gear - Graphite claws & tipped boots, and a massive pencil that can shoot a laser from the front or erase incoming attacks using the back
One of my favorite drawings.
I feel like the jumpsuit and pencil blend together a bit too much.
Not sure how to fix it.
Notes - A somewhat insane villain who uses a massive pencil to shoot lasers.

The Penciler was conceived in high school when my friend drew a stupid looking anthropomorphic pencil. Not one to be outdone, I quickly drew a pencil themed character holding a large pencil and decided he was a perfect fit for the Stapler universe. Honestly, his design has been pretty set in stone since the initial drawing and he's only had minor changes here and there. I kind of like the name Graphyte as an alternate name to try and get away from everyone being "The ____er", but I can't really come up with any other cool unique names for other characters, so I haven't committed to it yet.

The Penciler concept worked so well that I then took the design and replaced it with a mechanical pencil motif designed around the pencil I used at the time. It worked out pretty well and I decided to make him into a separate character that was built by the Penciler to work for him. As is the status quo with robot servants, it is smarter than the Penciler and finds his plans foolish. There was an idea to have the Mechanical Penciler eventually overthrow the Penciler and upgrade himself into the Maniacal Penciler (herp derp it sounds similar!) but I've all but thrown that idea in the trash at this point. It doesn't fit the theme well enough.

Character Bio: The Stupendous Stapler

Alter Ego - Mac Stàple
Height - 6'2"
Weight - ~180lbs.
Age - 30
Hair - Brown
Eyes - Green
Origin - Parents were killed when he was young, and his father's company went to him (Batman). Also accidentally stabbed himself with a radioactive staple at one point (Spider-Man). It only gave him diarrhea for a short period, but also gave him the idea to be a superhero.
Gear - Multi-barreled staple gun, ankle-mounted thrusters to provide flight, and various other most likely rarely used/one-off tools to fit the story (grappling hook, staple grenades, etc.)

A quick and dirty sketch I did of Mac Stàple
Notes - The hero of the story. Not too strong or smart, but handsome and rich... and isn't that all you really need?
Parody of Amazing Fantasy #15, the first appearance of Spider-Man.
As stated in the Blog Goal post, The Stapler was conceived when I was playing around with a stapler, which I had opened up to turn into a makeshift weapon. I started swinging it around and eventually thought of the idea of a character wielding a massive version as a weapon. I then drew a quick and silly picture of the Stapler. Eventually I decided against a very un-hero-like weapon and gave him a more traditional staple gun. While his design has changed with just about every new drawing of him, the general idea of slick shades, gray jumpsuit and a cape have stayed consistent.

He has an upgraded form of sorts called the Super Stapler, but there's nothing really to it outside of a more armored look and possibly some different hair. Oh and I made a "Stapler Shinoben" version too for kicks... but there's like a 1% chance that will be anything other than a piece of trivia. And I know how you guys love trivia on barely-fleshed out ideas to parodies of superheroes!
